ESL companions with Blizzard to function Hearthstone esports

Tournament organizer ESL Gaming has p tnered with Blizz d Ente ainment to create and operate He thstone’s espo s ecosystem for the next two ye s.

The deal will see all of He thstone’s major tournaments be affected, such as Grandmasters and the He thstone Masters Tours. Additionally, the circuit will entail a total prize pool of $3m (~ £2, 19m) per calend ye .

The announcement follows on from ESL’s existing agreements with St Craft II and W craft III, both of which e owned by Blizz d. According to the release, the new p tnership ‘strengthens the connection between the two brands’.

Alongside operating the He thstone espo s ecosystem, the agreement gives ESL an oppo unity to introduce ESL and DreamHack branded competitions into its p tnership with Blizz d over the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
ESL and DreamHack had been sister companies owned by Modern Times Group (MTG) since 2015, however, in September 2020 both entities merged under the ESL Gaming umbrella. Despite merging, the two firms remained sep ate brands to t get their respective audiences.
